Mango Mastani – Pune’s Famous Mango Drink

Mango Mastani is Pune’s very famous Mango drink made with Mango Milk shake, Ice cream and generous amount of dry fruits and candied fruits. It is believed that Peshwa Emperor Baji Rao‘s love interest Mastani Sahiba use to love Mangoes and this particular drink was invented for her and she was fond of it…Hence named MANGO MASTANI which is now a very famous street food in Pune and can be found almost everywhere in streets of the city during Mango season. It’s summer now and the market is flooded with a variety of mangoes. Get your favorite Mango and make this delicious royal drink and surprise your family and friends with your cooking skills.

MANGO MASTANI doesnt have any particular thumb rule for it’s recipe. Though the ingredients are same but assembling the drink can be done in no particular order. This recipe might not be exactly like it’s served in Pune, but it’s my own version based on my liking and availability. To make Mango Mastani the ingredients you need are Mango, Milk, Ice cream (vanila), dry fruits and candied fruits also known as tutti frutti. The key ingredient to this recipe id Mango Milkshake. and then comes the serving part where you can add the rest of the ingredients in no particular order.

So let’s just jump into the recipe and make MANGO MASTANI.

Instructions
  1. Collect chopped mangoes in a blender jar and add some ice cubes and 2 scoops of ice cream and milk. Blend to make a thick mango milk shake and keep aside
  2. To serve Mango Mastani take a tall glass and add ice cubes in the bottom and then add 2 scoops of ice cream over it.
  3. Now pour in the mango milk shake over the ice cream and fill the glass till the rim.
  4. Add the 2 scoops of ice cream again on the top and garnish with dry fruits and tutti frutti generously.
  5. Serve immediately.
Recipe Notes

You can add more variations to this recipe as per your linking. You can top the drink with some chopped mango pieces , mint leaf, or any other flavor of ice cream too.
