Chili Cheese Sesame Toast

Chili Cheese Sesame Toast is a delectable tea time snack that is made with handful of available ingredients in your kitchen pantry. In this recipe I’m gonna teach you how to make this sesame roast in an Air Fryer but if you dont have one, you can easily make them on a regular non stick pan too. This recipe is also available in Philip’s Air Fryer recipe booklet. I have followed the same technique with mild variations to the recipe. Air frying makes the snack oil free yet crisp, where as pan frying might consume a bit oil which many of us would like to avoid.

The world is going through a tough time and even here in my country, we are under lock down. Though having a good time with family but again sometimes it becomes tough with kids at home. Specially the ones who keep asking for delicious variety of snacks every hour. I have been facing the same nowdays and that is why I have kept my Air Fryer handy in kitchen so that I can do all the frying part easily and make amazing snacks for my son without compromising with his health. My son loves sesame a lot and I keep adding some in his sandwiches, buns, flatbreads etc. It gives a nice character and bite to the dish and ofcourse taste amazing as well. In this recipe I have used white sesame majorly with some black sesame in between to create some drama…lol.

You can use brown bread, loaf, baguette or any bread you like to make this crunchy sesame toast. If you want to feed some veggies then go ahead adding grated vegetables in the mix following the same technique.

How to make Chili Cheese Sesame Toast in Air Fryer :

Take 4 slices of bread and cut them into triangles and keep aside. Meanwhile in a bowl, add mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, black pepper, salt and chili flakes to taste. Mix them all properly to make a smooth filling. Take spoonful of potato mix and place in top of a bread piece. Press it gently either with hand or back of the spoon such that the potato mix spreads evenly all over the bread. Like wise prepare rest of the bread pieces too and keep aside. Now take sesame seeds and spread on a plate. Take a bread piece and place it on the sesame with potato side down such that the sesame coats all over the mix. Do this for all the bread pieces. Brush some oil on top and keep aside. Pre heat the air fryer on 200°C for 5 minutes. After that place the prepared bread pieces inside the basket of the air fryer and air fry for 5 mins on 180°C . Serve hot with sauce or chutney.

How to make Chili Cheese Sesame Toast on Stove Top :


Take 4 slices of bread and cut them into triangles and keep aside. Meanwhile in a bowl, add mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, black pepper, salt and chili flakes to taste. Mix them all properly to make a smooth filling. Take spoonful of potato mix and place in top of a bread piece. Press it gently either with hand or back of the spoon such that the potato mix spreads evenly all over the bread. Like wise prepare rest of the bread pieces too and keep aside. Now take sesame seeds and spread on a plate. Take a bread piece and place it on the sesame with potato side down such that the sesame coats all over the mix. Do this for all the bread pieces. Brush some oil on top and keep aside. Heat a non stick pan and brush it with some oil or butter. Place the slices and toast them from both sides by flipping in regular interval and adding additional oil or butter from sides, if needed. Transfer the sesame toast on a paper napkin to soak excess oil and serve hot with sauce or chutney.
