As a kid i had been fond of paneer a lot and my love for it is still not over :p One of my most favorite childhood recipe made by my mom is Shaam Savera. Honestly i never knew this name till i came acroos Sanjeev Kapoor’s recipe. My mom use to call it as palak paneer kofta. But after coming across Shaam Savera i realized the significance of it and the very beautiful reason behind the naming of this dish. Shaam in hindi means Evening and Savera in Hindi means Morning. Now as you see both paneer and spinach…

Methi Mutter Malai, the most rich and seasoned recipe often made during winters. Fresh peas and green methi leaves cooked in fresh cream making it a white silky curry is rich in texture and is often considered to be a royal dish made in special occasions. Season’s first Methi Mutter Malai was made today and enjoyed with Ghee Rotis. The recipe is easy to make and the richness lies in the cashews and cream that also makes the dish a bit heavy to digest. I had been making methi mutter malai quiet often but never got a chance to update…

Celebrate this Diwali with fun and frolic by some desi mithaiyan and surprise your guests with your talent. One of a very popular sweet from West Bengal is LAVANG LATIKA aka LOBONGO LOTIKA. Ever since the Navratri began , i have been awing all the delightful and sinful fast recipes all over the social media. Hence, thought to contribute a little from my end as well. This post is dedicated to all my friends in India and across the globe fasting these 9 days. Saboodana Kheer is one such common preparation done at homes during these 9 days. As i am keeping a check on my diet and sugar intake, hence i chose to make a sugar free version. Didn’t wanted to add those artificial sugar free substitute which are actually of no…

Navratan Korma aka Nine- Gem-Curry gets it’s name after the nine ingredients 9vegetables, fruits and nuts) used in making a creamy, semi-sweet Mughlai Curry. This royal curry was made in the imperial kitchens known as ‘Bawarchikhana’ for the Kings and the Queens during the Mughal Era. Mughali Cuisines are over the top delicious and this particular curry tops the chart as it makes it more royal with the use of fruits, assorted vegetables and nuts. The curry becomes rich with the use of cream, cashew paste and coconut milk at times. I have learned this recipe from my grandmother, who…

It’s been a year i last updated SHEER KURMA recipe on my blog. The pics that time were horrible as i took them from my phone camera and even the recipe writing part was very childish and not up to the mark. This year i decided to re shoot the old recipes and update in blog. Whole Ramadan i went busy and on Eid i went to my mom’s place to celebrate. Again missed a chance to shoot the sheer kurma. Finally, today i decided to make sheer and get it properly shot. So alas my old recipe got a…

With the onset of festivals, comes a season of sweets and desserts. I always had a fear of making kaju katlis at home, though them to be some rocket science….unless until i found the recipe of my dearest friend Farrukh Aziz from “Cubes N Juliennes”. Recently she made some amazing Kesar Kaju Katlis, that inspired me to try my hands on too. Her recipe was one of the most finest and easiest recipe i came across. Though her’s was saffron flavored and i tried doing some innovation to the recipe by adding a chocolaty touch to the traditional sweet. The…

It’s a special day today so here’s a special way to celebrate. Pink is the color of love and what better way can it be to express love in a sweetest form than to make a pink dessert. The color pink reminds me of a poem by Karlen …. Pink is love, Pink is life, Feelings of trust, Day and night. Pink will be there through the toughest of times, when you’re all alone, and afraid to cry. No matter what has happened, pink helps mend broken hearts, when they’re in two pieces and were torn apart.

Bread Halwa is something i can die for. Have grown up relishing this dessert made by my Dadi (grand mom). Many childhood memories freshen up the moment i take it’s first bite. The recipe was developed by my Late Grandmom and was forwarded to me by my Mom. It’s not just a dessert, it a tradition passing on to generations with it’s richness & authenticity !!!

The most commonly made Indian sweet at homes. Quick and easy loaded with loads of dry fruits make this Halwa more appetizing. I still remember when i was a kid and if there was any sudden arrival of guests, my mother use to run into the kitchen and withing minutes she use to come out with bowls of suji ka halwa. The mouth melting halwa with the richness of ghee n dry fruits was my family’s all time favorite. I still do make it for my son specially in winters.
