Few days back we had guest at home from KSA , i was so pleased to see that they got lots of hand plucked yellow dates for us. Never seen before, it was a something very new to me. Tasted very much like our Indian Desi Berr. A kind of sweet, a kind of sour … simply loved it. Thank you so much Abdullah Khan for this priceless gift https://www.facebook.com/mohammed.a.khan.7503?fref=ts Dates have been a staple food of the Middle East and the Indus Valley for thousands of years. They are believed to have originated around what is now Iraq, and…

I have spend a around 15 years in Bhopal and within all these years i discovered a lot of delicacies that the city had to offer. A small hawker named Banney Miyan use to put up his stall near my residence and was suppose to be very famous in Bhopal for making Bread Pakodas. Even i was very curious to see who that person was and taste his famous Break Pakodas. Once i got an opportunity and trust me I had never in my life before tasted such amazing flavorful bread pakodas. He use to put up his stall every…

Since childhood i had a strong liking towards Bengali cuisine. As my mother belongs to West Bengal, she always use to make those traditional dishes (on special occasions) which whole of our family use to relish. As i am from a mixed culture, because my father belonged to Rajasthan, hence i am some where blessed to have tasted the authentic cuisines of two phenomenal regions. Masoor dal with panch phoran is my evergreen favorite. I still remember how much I used to enjoy eating the bong spread consisting Shukto, Moshoor Dal, Dhokar Dal, Aloo Posto and variety of Bhajas……aaha bliss!…

The festive season is on and Lord Ganesha has arrived. I have been seeing my friends making lots of sweets and desserts as offering to the God. Though Modak has a huge significance with the festival but apart from that there are various home made delicious sweets that can be offered to the Lord and make him happy. One of them is fresh home made aromatic Mysore Paak …Mysore pak is a rich sweet dish prepared in butter, from Southern India, usually served as dessert. It originated in Mysore. It is made of generous amounts of ghee, sugar, gram flour,…

Smoking is a technique used for giving rustic flavors to a dish. It’s particularly done either on a dal or chicken. Smoking can give a world of a difference to tout everyday simple dal and make you feel as if you are having a meal in a dhaba. I had often tasted smoked dal and chicken in Higway dhabas and trust me they taste amazing. The smoke gets infused so well and enhances the flavors so beautifully ….aaah! absolutely divine. Did you know that smoking a dish can be done even at home. Yes! you heard that right, it’s no…

He loves all kinds of food, i have grown up watching Ganesh Festival being celebrated in my colony and neighborhood. The most innocent and sweet God who accepts all kinds of food happily. I remember my neighbor Aunty used to serve him Idli and Dosai in prasad. Have also seen many offering a variety of sweets to the humble God with so much love and devotion. So when it is Ganpati around why go hunting for…

In India and few other Asian countries the most commonly preferred way to roast an egg plant or a brinjal is to grill/roast on a Sigdi or a stove top. The roasted eggplants are used for making various traditional dishes both National and International. The most common dish used making roasted egg plants in Baigan Bharta. It is made with roasted egg plant mashed and flavored with Indian spices along with ginger, garlic, onions and tomatoes.
