Home Made Burger Buns

by Shaheen Ali

It’s been more than a decade, fast food has captured our hearts and stomach all over. One such American fast food that i loved by every single man/woman/child is BURGER. In India these days the teens are mostly found hanging out at Burger King. So now no more going to any fast food joints to have your favorite burger when you can make oven fresh, warm, fluffy and pillowy Burger Buns at home.

Bread baking is an art, once you skill it you will start enjoying it the most. Believe me it’s a serious addiction and at the same time it’s therapeutic also. Until now i have baked a variety of breads but all were the eggless version. This is for the first time, i baked the bread by using eggs as well. So non-egg eaters kindly excuse this recipe.

Burger buns can be made with whole wheat flour or mixed flour as well but the crumbs might look dense as compared to the all purpose flour bread. Before start baking a bread make sure you use a good quality of yeast. Any bread succeeds or flops because of the yeast only. If the yeast doesn’t works well, all your efforts will go a waste. There are certain methods in any bread baking recipe that needs to be taken care of really well. Like the water used for activating the yeast should be in the right temperature. As said earlier the yeast should be of good quality. Always collect and arrange the ingredients in one place before use. Rising of the dough is again the most important method that can never be skipped or ignored.

Always let the bread cool down completely before you cut it into slices. As soon as the burger buns are ready, allow them to cool and then slice it into two halves and make your favorite fat burger using patties, lots of vegetables, cheese, sauce etc etc.

Try making this amazing stuff at home and surprise your guests with your baking skills… so without any more delay let us quickly proceed to check out the ingredients required and direction & method to make hot and fresh, soft and pillowy burger buns 🙂

  1. Collect all the ingredients in your kitchen counter before you start.
  2. Heat water, milk and butter together in a pan till butter melts completely.

  4. In a large bowl add the luke warm solution with flour, sugar, yeast and salt. Gradually add 2 beaten eggs.
  5. Combine all and fold it together to make a sticky and elastic dough.
  6. Don't worry if it sticks to your hand, just transfer it to your dusted kitchen counter and knead it well to make a soft, elastic and supple dough.
  7. Dust the excess flour and shape it into a large ball and place on a grease bowl. Cover it with a plastic wrap and place the bowl in a warm place for 2 hours or till the dough rises double.
  8. Deflate the dough and knead again for 5 mins and make 7-8 equal portions of the dough.
  9. Shape it into a smooth ball and place them on a lined baking tray at equal distance.
  10. Brush some cooking oil on top and cover the tray with a plastic wrap and allow it to rest for second rise for 30 mins - 1 hr.
  11. Heat oven at 180 degree C in baking mode for 15 mins.
  12. Meanwhile take the third egg and add 2 tbsp of water and beat to make an egg wash.
  13. Brush the egg wash on the buns and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  14. Place the baking tray in the lower or the middle rack and bake it for 25-30 mins or till the crust turns golden.
