SPRIG GOURMET

Among few prestigious projects i am working for, SPRIG gourmet happens to be one. SPRIG is one of the very popular suppliers who present you and array of gourmet ingredients that will be a pride of your kitchen. As they say the love for food is the combination of good looks, great taste and unbeatable flavor ; but a meal prepared with the right ingredients, with love, is a celebration. SPRIG is a brand that scours the world to get the finest gourmet ingredients into kitchens of people who pride themselves in preparing good food.  SPRIGmakes its debut just when a shrinking world expands people’s appetite for global cuisine. It’s not just chefs but even homemakers are serving up Chinese, Thai, Malay, Mexican, British, Italian and a host of other cuisine. But specialty food also needs special ingredients, that are not readily available. SPRIG sits proudly on gourmet shelves in premium packaging from all over the world. Elegant handmade Italian glass bottles, tiny little Spriggle jars, premium aluminium tubes with a silky smooth finish, give you a hint of the exquisite products inside. So, the next time you’re looking for the finest vanilla beans from Madagascar or the world’s finest black pepper grown closer home in Tellicherry, just look up SPRIG and amaze yourself with our beautiful collection from across the world.

SPRIG GOURMET

SPRIG has introduced Coconut Sugar mingled with a Quartet of Brown Spices. A slight hint of caramel, mixed with warm spices, defines this gourmet sugar which can be used as well in traditional Indian cooking as it can be in international cuisine. Sprinkle some of this sugar onto simply baked apples and caramel sauce to open a treasure trove of new flavours. Experiment with savoury creations like Teriyaki chicken wings and Thai Soups. Enjoy this wholesome indulgence in everything from your daily coffee to decadent desserts. With its warming melange of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and star anise, here’s a natural sweetener done right! Coconut palm sugar has a lower glycemic index than refined sugar, enabling your body to be more effective at maintaining its blood sugar levels.

Another product i used is Extract of  Natural Bourbon Vanilla ‘Vanilla’, the word itself is enough to transport you to a surreal world. A world of muffins, saffron cakes, cupcakes, ice cream pies, meringues, almond fingers, cream horns, and more. Vanilla is among the most delectable and universally loved flavors that nature has to offer. It’s the world’s second most expensive spice, commanding a lot of importance in every connoisseur’s kitchen. SPRIG’s All Natural Bourbon Vanilla Extract derives its signature flavor from the finest imported vanilla beans grown in Madagascar. Using a proprietary process, our vanilla beans are crafted into a rich and delicious extract redolent with fruit and floral notes. Growing and processing real vanilla beans is a labor of love. The beans are each pollinated by hand, processed and matured for over a year to develop the complex character of natural vanilla. No vanilla essence can ever match up to the rich, complex flavor of SPRIG All Natural Bourbon Vanilla Extract.

SPRIG GOURMET

Recently i was approached by the team to collaborate with SPRIG and develop recipes using their phenomenal products. The challenge was to make a delectable dessert using exotic SPRIG products and something the relates and represents Eid. Eid-ul-adha is celebrated by Muslims all across the glove after 40 days of Eid-ul-fitr. This festival is celebrated in all parts of the world with zeal and enthusiasm. It signifies sacrifice of the beloved for Allah! Eid-ul-adha is a 3 day celebration but also continues till months with guests visiting each other to exchange festive greetings.  Keeping the happiness and the mood of the festival in mind, i made some Sheer Khurma, which itself plays an important role in any Eid celebration. This time with a twist, as i used Coconut Palm Sugar and Natural Extract of Bourbon Vanilla from SPRIG to make an exotic sewai pudding. An easy yet delightful dessert that makes an ideal menu for your Eid parties , Coconut Palm Sugar Sheer Khurma Dessert is best enjoyed chilled with plenty of fried dry fruits and nuts as a topping.

Sharing the recipe below, do try out the vivid range of SPRIG products and give your simple meal a gourmet definition and surprise your family with your culinary skills.

Ingredients :

1/2 cup Broken Sewai (thin) ghee roasted (You can also use Vermicelli)

500 ml Full Cream Milk

8 tbsp white sugar

3/4 tbsp SPRIG Coconut Sugar mingled with a Quartet of Brown Spices

3-4 drops SPRIG Natural Bourbon Vanilla Extract

1 tbsp ghee for roasting nuts

2-3 tbsp fresh cream

Dry Fruits & Nuts :

4-5 Cashews chopped

4-5 almond chopped

10 Raisins

2 tbsp Chironji

2 tbsp Desicaded Coconut

Method :

Heat ghee in a pan and roast sewai until golden and keep aside. In the same pan roast cashews, almonds, chironjee and raisins one by one and collect aside. Boil milk in a thick bottomed pan and as soon as it starts boiling simmer the gas and let the milk reduce. Keep scraping the sides because that’s where the tastiest stuff gets stuck. Once the milk starts reducing add fried nuts except raisins. That we will add in the last. Let the milk thicken nicely, it will now look light yellow and creamy. Add roasted sewai and cook till it softens. If you are using vermicelli then cook until it’s transparent and soft. Now add sugar and coconut palm sugar and keep stirring to avoid milk getting burnt.Once you add sugar you will see milk gets diluted again, this is because sugar dissolves and dilutes it. Cook again till the milk thickens back, now add fresh cream and few drops of Bourbon Vanilla extract and give a quick stir. Turn off the gas and add fried raisins and let it cool completely. Pour the dessert in serving bowls and refrigerate before serving. Garnish with some desicaded coconut and serve chilled.
