Since childhood i had a strong liking towards Bengali cuisine. As my mother belongs to West Bengal, she always use to make those traditional dishes (on special occasions) which whole of our family use to relish. As i am from a mixed culture, because my father belonged to Rajasthan, hence i am some where blessed to have tasted the authentic cuisines of two phenomenal regions. Masoor dal with panch phoran is my evergreen favorite. I still remember how much I used to enjoy eating the bong spread consisting Shukto, Moshoor Dal, Dhokar Dal, Aloo Posto and variety of Bhajas……aaha bliss!…

Peanuts are often found at our kitchen pantry. Apart from making chutneys and using a few in making Chivda, peanuts normally doesn’t have anything fancy to serve us. But No! hold on…this masala peanuts is not just quick but also gives you a kick on your palate. There are basically two kinds of masala peanut recipes… 1. Besan coated deep fried 2. Blanched and roasted with spices. Peanut itself carry a huge content of oil in it hence the deep fried option won’t be that healthy to consume. Hence i opted for the roasted one. It’s tangy and spicy and…

Kathal ke Kebabs are the vegetarian version of Shami Kebabs. The fibrous fruit make is look almost like a mutton kebab. As jackfruits are flooding the market these days, i had a small one at home too. Had already made curry and koftas of kathal few days back, so thought to use the remaining pieces for making tikkis or kebabs. They can be consumed as an awesome evening snack or as a side dish with the meal. Jackfruit comes from mulberry family. It has thorny projections outside and soft flesh. Jackfruit’s flesh is very high in fiber content. The taste…

Dahi vada (also known as Dahi Bhalla in Punjabi , Thayir Vadai in Tamil, Thayir Vada in Malayalam, Perugu Vada in Telugu, Mosaru Vade in Kannada, Dahi Bara in Oriya and Doi Bora in Bengali) is an Indian chaat, prepared by soaking vadas in thick dahi (yogurt) The Marwaris use Moong Dal instead of Urad dal in making the vadas. It can be eaten both as a snack and a meal. When ever i cook in a bulk, i prefer making the vadas a day before. Refrigerate it in a zip pouch and then next day soak in hot water…

Chole Bhature is an absolutely decadent treat that is a must-try if u are a Punjabi food lover … It is one of many Punjabi specialties. It is also something I cook less often. Only because of a personal preference for Rajma (red kidney beans). Over the years, I have tried many recipes for chole recipes till i had my very own recipe, that is a family pleasure now.

Cornmeal is a kind of flour or meal that is made from ground sweet corn. It comes in yellow, white, blue or red varieties, depending on the type of corn used. Since cornmeal is gluten-free, fine and medium cornmeal is usually mixed with wheat flour to create a crumbly texture in baked goods like cornbread or corn muffins.Today i used white corn meal in making rawa dosa. Surprisingly the dosa came out to be much more tastier than those regular ones.

Here falls a holiday again…! My cooking took a fancy turn again to please my son amd make his holiday worth. Presenting Paneer Malai Tikka with Cream Dip , Sauce , lil salad and accompanied by Jeweled Dark Chocolate Cake and Hot Chocolate Drink. Normally the Paneer Tikka is grilled in microwave but sometime i found that after grilling the tikkas use to get tight. So this time i opted to shallow roast them in a non stick tawa. The outer crust became crisp and the softness of the paneer inside kept intact.

Mutter Ki kachori happens to be the most favorite North Indian snack during the winters. Unlike those regular lentil and spice stuffed kachoris, the mutter kachori is filled with a spicy green pea filling and is served with tangy tamarind chutney and also with bedmi aloo ki sabzi at various places in North India. If you liked this Indian snack recipe, then try making it at home and share your feedback with me in comments below 🙂
