  1. Sift flour, baking powder and salt and keep aside.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together and add eggs one at a time and whisk again till creamy. Now vanilla extract and pepper mint extract into it. If you don’t have peppermint extract them its ok. It’s completely optional so you can omit it.
  3. Add the flour mix to the sugar-butter mix and knead to make a smooth dough.
  4. Divide the dough into tow portions and add rose pink or red food coloring to one portion and knead again such that the color blends into well.
  5. Wrap both the dough individually in a cling wrap sheet and refrigerate it for almost an hour.
  6. Take the dough out of the fridge and allow it to sit for 10 mins in room temp.
  7. Take about a 2 inch piece of dough from each and form it into a 5 inch rope.
  8. Lay them side by side and pinch both sides to seal.
  9. Twist them gently and curve the top to make them look like candy canes.
  10. Line a baking tray and place the cookies. Pre heat the oven at 350 degree C and baking the cookies for 12 minutes, until golden around the edges.
  11. Allow them to cool on a wire wrack and later store them in an air tight jar.

Note :

sprinkle some crushed peppermint on the cookies before baking. Though it’s completely optional but it adds an amazing bite and flavour to the cookies. Even kids may enjoy it completely.
