Spicy Paneer Frankie

Frankie aka Kathi Roll is a popular street side snack specially famous in Mumbai and big cities of India. Flour tortilla pan roasted with butter is later filled with various veg and non veg filling along with some salad and cheese, later rolled and served is typically loved by working people who got out for jobs and have a frankie in their meal. Paneer frankie is one of the option which is truly loved by children and is an amazing snack option for kid’s tiffin.

  1. Heat oil in a wok and add chopped garlic and green chilies, saute for a while.
  2. Now add chopped onions and capsicum along and saute till raw smell goes off.
  3. Add all the three sauces with salt and freshly crushed pepper, stir and let it cook for 1/2 a minute.
  4. Once the sauce starts to thicken, add in the paneer pieces into it and mix well.
  5. Cook for another minute and turn off the heat. Keep aside to cool.
  6. Heat a non stick pan/tawa and add 1 tbsp of butter and grease it well.
  7. Once the pan is hot, place one flour tortilla and roast it till golden from both sides. Adjust butter if needed.
  8. Transfer the butter roasted tortilla on a plate and take spoonful of cheese spread and place it on the tortilla.
  9. Spread it evenly with a butter knife or spoon and add shredded cabbage on it.
  10. Now take around 2-3 tbsp of paneer mix and place it horizontal in the center.
  11. Fold in one corner and start rolling the tortilla tight.
  12. Fix it with a tooth pick or wrap it with a tissue paper or foil.
  13. Serve hot as an evening snack or for kids tiffin box.
