Shikanji – Indian Lemonade

Shikanji is an Indian lemonade made mostly during he summers and is undoubtedly he most loved cold beverage in the country. Shikanji can be enjoyed at any time of he day and is perhaps the best re hydrating drink as in contains, lemon, sugar and salt. Shikanji is the best energy drink that no just solace you in summer but also has some amazing digestive properties.

Handful of ingredients and shikanji is ready in merely 10 minutes of time. Also known as Nimbu Pani, Shikanji is our very Indian cold drink ha is now even find of street corners. Shikanji can be made with water or can even be enjoyed as a fizzy drink by adding soda.

Today i am sharing the most easy recipe that is made in my home almost daily, specially during Ramadan. In summers, after a day long food and water fasting, all i want is a glass full of Shikanji to get my life back.

Instructions
  1. Combine, water, sugar, lemon juice, salt, chaat masala and 2-3 mint leaves in a pitcher and sir still sugar dissolves.
  2. Strain the shikanji in a separate pitcher and let it rest for a while.
  3. Take serving glass and add handful of ice. Pour in the shikanji in the glass and add some fresh mint on top.
  4. Garnish with some lemon wedges and serve chilled.
