Bye Bye summers, see you next year! This was my last summer recipe to bid goodbye to this super hot climate. The monsoon is here finally and now begins a session full of bhajiyas and pakodas. But before that let us once again enjoy a perfect summer frozen dessert , that is none other than but my most favorite Granita. Granita is a semi-frozen dessert made from sugar, water and various flavorings. Originally from Sicily, it is available all over Italy in somewhat different forms.
Peach and Orange Granita is one of the most finest combinations to make frozen desserts with. The recipe is easy and can be made even by the kids (with parental supervision). Gets prepared quickly but yes, it does takes hell lot of time to set as it’s enjoyed frozen. My son loves granita because he gets to do the favorite part, that is scrapping. So pull up your sleeves and lets bid goodbye to this sweaty, summery season with this cool and refreshing , fruitful Peach and Orange Granita.
Here is all what you need :
- 4 cups water
- 4 peach halves i used Canned Peach Halves with syrup
- 1 small orange juiced
- 4-5 Fresh Mint leaves
- few Orange slices
- few peach diced
Method of making Peach and Orange Granita :
Combine water and canned peach halves along with syrup (if you are using fresh peach then add sugar as needed) in a pan and bring it to a boil.
Reduce the flames and cook for another 5-6 mins.
Turn off the gas, and set aside to cool.
Transfer the mix into a blender and blend to make a fine puree.
Add orange juice and stir well.
Transfer the puree to a glass tray or an ice cream tray and freeze for 3-4 hours or more until firm. You can also freeze it over night.
Remove the tray from freezer and scrape entire mixture with a fork until fluffy.
Serve immediately and garnish with some peach pieces, orange slices and fresh mint.
