Did u know that our very famous, sweet and crispy Jalebi is also known as Zulbia, and is very popular in countries of South Asia, West Asia and also North Africa. It is made by deep-frying a wheat flour batter in pretzel or circular shapes, which are then soaked in sugar. Indian jalebi is made with Maida (all purpose flour) with a mix of curd mainly. The batter is kept for fermentation and then later fried in circular shape and soaked in sugar syrup. Quite a lengthy process!
Jalebi is one of my family’s favorite sweet. Typically desi and the most popular selling mithai on Indian streets and stalls. Early morning a plate of Poha with some crispy jalebi in breakfast is sheer bliss! In earlier times, jalebis was served in all special occasions and also marriages. Even today, you can find various stalls in marriages and parties making jalebis and serving with thick and creamy Rabri. Recently i came across a video of Chef Pankaj Bhadouria where she taught how to make instant jalebi. Isn’t that cool! Well, yes, the recipe required handful of ingredients and was super quick to make. Now i can anytime make jalebis at home and surprise my guests too. Check out the ingredients required and the steps of making super delicious and crisp instant jalebis.
