Paneer Tawa Pulao

Have you ever been to a Pab Bhaji seller ??? If yes, then you might have definitely noticed the vendor making some amazing pulao using the same vegetables and spices of Pav Bhaji. The guy take merely 5 mins to make this amazing pulao loaded with lots of chopped vegetables. Pav bhaji being a common Mumbai street food, tawa pulao is yet another popular street food that can be found in almost any corner of busy Mumbai lanes.


Tawa pulao is another great option if you have left over rice at home. Just few handful of ingredients and this lip smacking pulao is ready to serve. It hardly takes 5 mins, so it is again a great option for those who panic when sudden guests arrive. Regular tawa pulao is made with begetables and pav bhaji spice blend, but i had some paneer left over as well, so i added fried paneer chunks into it to make it taste even more awesome, and yes, kids gonna love it too… 😉

So let us quickly check the simple ingredients required and the method to make enticing Paneer Tawa Pulao …

Instructions
  1. Take two cups of left over rice and break lumps with your hands and keep aside. If you don't have left over rice, then you may cook it fresh and spread it on a large tray to avoud getting sticking to each other.
  2. Heat butter in a wok/ kadhai/ pan and fry the paneer cubes till light golden in color.Transfer them to a kitchen towel and keep aside.
  3. In the same butter add minced ginger and garlic and fry.
  4. Now add chopped onions and green chilies and saute them till they turn translucent and the raw smell goes off.
  5. Add tomatoes, carrots, capsicum, peas, cabbage and potatoes and along with turmeric powder, red chili powder and pav bhaji masala and fry all together for 2 mins.
  6. Adjust salt and add the cooked rice & lemon juice and mix all carefully to avoid rice from sticking or breaking.
  7. Keep shuffling the rice till the masala gets incorporated with it evenly.
  8. Add chopped coriander and fried paneer chunks into it and give everything a quick toss.
  9. Serve hot with salad and onion raita!
Recipe Notes

Note :

I have used left over rice to make tawa pulao, but you can also cook fresh to make this lip smacking pulao.

Cook the rice in a open pan, drain the water and pass the rice through a strainer. Spread the rice on a large tray and keep under fan for few mins. This will avoid the rice from sticking to each other and forming lumps.
