Hershey’s Chocolate Cake – Moist Chocolate Cake (No Eggs No Butter)

by Shaheen Ali

Baking is a serious addition. I still remember the time when baking seemed to be my biggest nightmare. But in past one year i started working hard on my baking skills and today i m almost addicted to it…lol

Cake baking is something in fond of the most. I have been trying lots of different cake recipes in past one year. Chocolate cake has been one of  my most passionate and favorite one. Even the blog’s baking category consists of different chocolate cake recipes the most. Recently i came across a friend who asked me for the recipe of eggless chocolate cake (means a No butter and No egg recipe) …after a long internet search i came across a fool proof recipe of an eggless chocolate cake. I immediately adapted the recipe and just made few changes to it as per my choice. The original recipe is from http://www.sharmispassions.com/2010/03/simple-moist-chocolate-cakewith-no-eggs.html

The original recipe had choco chips in it which i replaced by adding Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Was not sure how my changes done would turn up, but the moment the cake was out from the oven it looked spongy, perfectly baked and super moist. This was a perfect eggless chocolate cake recipe which tasted awesome and didn’t gave me a single chance to miss those eggs and butter.

Instructions
  1. Sift all the dry ingredients ( all purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder). Sieve them all together twice so that the ingredients get incorporated completely. Set aside the mix.
  2. In a large bowl, take water, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla essence and oil. Mix them all together well till the sugar gets dissolved completely.
  3. Now gradually start adding the sifted flour mixture to the wet ingredients mixture may be in 2 parts.
  4. Gently mix everything in one direction. Break the lumps forming. The batter will be slightly runny as compared to regular cake batter.
  5. Now fold in the Hershey's chocolate syrup and and give a quick stir.
  6. Grease a 8" baking pan (any shape) and dust it with little flour on all sides.
  7. Pour the batter in the center and let it spread outwards by its own. Tap the baking pan slightly to break the air bubbles forming.
  8. Bake the cake in a pre heated oven at 180 degree C for around 35-40 mins or till the tooth pick comes out clean.
  9. Allow it to cool and then invert the mold carefully to take out the cake. Cut into desired pieces and serve.
