Herbed Whole Wheat Bread Sticks

Whole wheat bread sticks loaded with the goodness of herbs is a perfect snack option for kids in this summer vacations. Kids these days are found to have a huge liking towards store bought pizzas and breads, which are not just expensive at times but also very unhealthy for them. So if you have few handful of ingredients at home, why don’t you make some delicious herbed bread sticks for them which is healthy as well. Recently i came across a recipe by one of my good friend Akila, i found her sharing this instant bread stick recipe. The recipe was not just quick and easy but also had a nice use of herbs which excited me to make one for my son too.


The recipe is adapted from MORPHY AND ME but the only variation did by me was the change in flour. I used the same recipe and technique by replacing APF with wheat flour, which i guess made even a healthier version of bread sticks.

The recipe requires just a handful of ingredients and can even be made by those who fear to bake their own bread at home. So wear your aprons and put on your chef cap to make this amazing healthy herbed bread sticks and impress your family with your baking skills.

  1. In a large mixing bowl add flour, salt, yeast, olive oil and luke warm water.
  2. Mix it to make a sticky dough.
  3. Grease and line a 8"x 8" baking tray/ brownie tray and transfer the sticky dough into it.
  4. Grease your palm and flatten the dough and spread it all over.
  5. Take a sharp knife and score 1 inch wide strips length wise.
  6. Cling wrap the tray and allow it to rest for 1 hour.
  7. Pre heat the oven at 180 degree C for 10-15 mins.
  8. Remove the cling foil and brush the top with butter.
  9. Sprinkle the dried herbs and pizza seasoning all over generously.
  10. Place the tray in the oven and bake it for 20-25 mins or till the top turns light brown.
  11. Transfer the tray on a wire rack and allow it to rest for few minutes.
  12. Take a sharp knife and cut across the scored lines and pull apart the bread sticks.
  13. Serve warm with your favorite dip!
