Eggless Custard Cookies

These days my family demands something sweet after every meal. If i make cakes, it get’s finished in no time…lol. Btw, whatever sweet i make it gets over too quickly. Today again my son came up with a demand for cookies. He is a big fan of custard and that was his first choice today for obvious reasons. Didn’t had a single fruit at home today… so what? Let’s make something that tdoesn’t need any fruit, will fulfill the sweet craving too and will taste custard….Wohoooo! A CUSTARD COOKIE


A cookie that is crunchy yet melt in mouth and gives an amazing taste and aroma of custard. This time i had vanilla custard at home so made the basic one, but soon i m gonna try this with many more flavors. The cookie not just taste divine but gives a serious addiction too… you won’t believe i had 3-4 while baking. Best part is that it’s egg-less. What more can anyone ask for.

With very few basic ingredients that are easily found in kitchen pantry, today we are learning to make CUSTARD COOKIE (EGGLESS). All you need is all purpose flour that we sift with custard powder, baking powder and baking soda. Then we mix it with sugar and oil mix to make a smooth dough. And yes not to forget the vanilla essence , that gives and amazing aroma. Well i shaped the cookie ad made impression with a fork. You can even roll out the dough and make different shapes using a cookie cutter. Just set your imaginations free and make some amazing custard cookies. So this was a brief but now let us proceed to check the exact ratio of ingredients required and also the method of baking.

  1. Sieve all purpose flour, custard powder, baking soda and baking powder together in a large bowl.
  2. Grind sugar in a mixer grinder to make it fine powder.
  3. Add oil in sugar and whisk well till well combined.
  4. Add vanilla essence and whisk again for few seconds.
  5. Now mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients to make a smooth dough. The dough should be soft and smooth. If you find the dough a bit dry, add little milk and knead to make it soft.
  6. Pinch some dough and roll between your palm to make a smooth lemon size ball.
  7. Press the ball gently between both the palm to shape it disk.
  8. Make impression on the cookie with a fork. Similarly make more cookies.
  9. Pre heat the oven at 180 degree C and meanwhile line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the cookies in a row. Leave some gap in between for the cookie to expand while baking.
  10. Place the baking tray in the oven and bake the cookies for 10-12 mins.
  11. Take out the tray and allow the cookies to cool down on a wire rack.
  12. Once the cookies are cool, store them in a air tight jar to prevent moisture to get in. If moisture goes in the cookies will turn soggy.
  13. Serve with hot or cold milk and even as a tea time snack.
Recipe Notes

Note :

The color of the cookie after baking shall be yellow or golden , not brown. It took me 10 mins exact to bake the cookies per batch, but you can check the status after 10 mins and can bake for 2 more minutes.
