Chocolate Doodh Peda

by Shaheen Ali

For all those sudden sweet cravings, here is a perfect solution! A mouth watering chocolaty peda loaded with the goodness of milk both in powdered as well as condensed form is something that can be made in a jiffy. It’s soft and fudgy and an all time favorite sweet of children who love to have sweets at any time of the day. Isn’t it lovely ???

After having a lot of internet search i finally landed up making an instant doodh peda. Though the recipe has been followed by Sharmi’s Passion but i made few changes by adding a chocolaty flavor to it.

The recipe is super easy as here we use milk powder instant of that elaborated process of milk reduction and all. Hence the use of few basic ingredients make it simple, easy, quick and delectable too. As i made the chocolate version, you can add other variations like, pista, kesar, pan , gulkand etc as per your choice. The pedas can be kept simple or can be shaped like a sondesh, the way i did. Just open your imaginations and create the best you can. Let us now quickly check out the easy peasy recipe of my Chocolaty Doodh Peda 🙂

  1. In a wok mix milk powder, cocoa powder, condensed milk and whisk till smooth. Break lumps if formed and this should be done before setting on gas.
  2. Now turn on the gas and continue stirring till it starts thickening and gathering from sides.
  3. Add cardamom powder and 2 tbsp of ghee and keep stirring on medium flame till it forms a lump and folds inwards completely.
  4. Turn off the gas and allow the mix to cool till you feel warm on touching.
  5. Now grease your palm with ghee and pinch lemon sized ball and gently press between the palms to make a disk.
  6. Line a tray with parchment paper and place the peda on it. If you have stencil then make impression on it else use a fork or tooth pick to make patterns on the peda.
  7. Similarly make more pedas with rest of the mix and place them gently on the lined tray.
  8. Refrigerate the pedas for 4-5 hours. As it is make with milk powder hence the texture would be initially a bit chewy.
