Brigadeiros In Creamy Vanilla Sauce

by Shaheen Ali

‘Chefs Across Boundaries’ is a group of Chefs who set up challenges every month to encourage the participants to innovate, think out of the box and explore the culinary world. It is an initiative started by a handful of food bloggers and food enthusiasts who have taken up the challenge to explore unique and traditional recipes with a motive to expand culinary knowledge as well as to promote the hidden gems which are yet to make an impact in the culinary world.

The monthly challenge at ‘Chefs Across Boundaries’ this month is the Brazilian Cuisine. The challenge was set up by the very talented Mukherjee duo, Priyanka and Souvik from www.gigglingspoons.com

Earlier due to some personal reasons i were not able to accept and complete the challenge, but looking into my co-blogger’s amazing posts i somewhere inside was dying to take up the challenge. But again as i were lacking resources i had very less options left. Initially planned baking a cake but later had to settle down making something more easy yet scrumptious. So finally landed up making Brigadeiros with creamy silky vanilla sauce.

Chocolate Truffle has been my all time favorite since the time i first discovered it in a bakery near my home. Before that pastry was the only thing i knew as a kid. The gooey chocolate balls coated with nuts and beads was and is still a delight to have. Recently i came across a recipe from my blogger friend Nidhi Raj from www.soulandspicebox.com where she had made Brazilian Brigadeiros under a a recipe challenge.  The link to her recipe is http://soulandspicebox.com/brigadeiros-brazilian-chocolate-truffles/

While going through the recipe i came to know that it is actually truffle balls that can be made in a jiffy. Ever since i was looking for a chance to try my hands on them.

As i was not having edible colorful beads for garnishing i chose to stick to almond shavings only. Made around 12 truffles from which 5-6 were gulped down by my son immediately, even before i could manage to click…lol. Rest i thought to serve with fresh and creamy home made vanilla sauce that i made a day before for garnishing a cake as well. Usually the vanilla sauce is cream in color but i chose to add a bit of yellow in it to make it look more bright, sunny and vibrant as per the season.
